Stemming Domestic Violence Can Help Stem Violence Outside the Home

"A recent study found that more than half of the 110 mass shootings in the United States between January 2009 and July 2014 included the murder of a current or former spouse, an intimate partner or a family member."

In recent years, a striking correlation has been noticed between people who commit acts of domestic violence, and acts of violence outside the home and family. Perpetrators such as the Boston bombing suspect, George Zimmerman, and Man Haron Monis who took hostages in an Australian Cafe weeks ago all had previously been arrested or charged with domestic violence.

By stemming the issue of violence where it starts, at home, and responding properly and effectively to violence against women and children will make all people safer.
