Each year, thousands of schools and youth organizations nationwide participate in Start With Hello Week, a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth.

Top Ways to Get Involved in Start With Hello Week

Sign up for Start With Hello Week! It’s open to any school or community organization that wants to create a culture of kindness and belonging through our Start With Hello program. Our proven, no-cost program teaches students how to look for the signs of social isolation and increase inclusivity and empathy with their classmates.

It’s free and easy to register for Start With Hello Week! You’ll receive an email that directs you to your resources, including:

  • A planning guide for your school and students
  • The Start With Hello training for grades K–12
  • Access to lesson plans and activities
  • Chance to be recognized in the Start With Hello Week Awards

You’ll get special updates on activities and educational events taking place during the week. You’ll also receive tips for your training and program sustainability through our Learning Center.

Connect on Social Media! There are so many ways to share with educators, students, and the whole Sandy Hook Promise community. Use your social media toolkit with ready-to-use graphics, sample posts, and profile photo frames to promote your Start With Hello activities. Be sure to use the official campaign hashtags: #StartWithHello and #StartWithHelloWeek.

Classrooms, schools, youth organizations, and entire districts are invited to join us for Start With Hello Week! If you’re registering a classroom or grade-level team, please select “My individual school” to get started. You will be able to indicate the number of students participating as you continue completing the form.
