Schools and community-based organizations participating in Start With Hello Week are eligible to apply for the Start With Hello Awards. These awards honor outstanding student leadership and empathy-building activities that carry forward the spirit of Start with Hello Week throughout the school year. The Start With Hello Week 2021 Planning Guide contains tips and best practices that will help you plan and launch activities to highlight in your video or slideshow.

It’s easy to apply! Submit a 2–3 minute video or slideshow highlighting your school or community-based organization’s successful Start With Hello activities.

Award Application Details

  • Students, teachers and educators nominate their schools, organizations, or districts serving grades K – 12.
  • Nominations are open from 9/27 – 10/22/2021.
  • The top ten winners will be announced on 11/19/2021.
  • Prizes for schools and community-based organizations include a $250 stipend and national recognition via Sandy Hook Promise’s website and social media.
  • The District Grand prize includes a $500 stipend and national recognition via our website and social media.
  • All winners will have their award-winning video or slide show screened at the National SAVE Youth Summit on 4/23/2022.
