National Youth Violence Prevention Week

Join youth and teens from across America to take a stand against violence.

What is National Youth Violence Prevention Week?

Founded in 2001, National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW) brings communities together to raise awareness and learn how to stop youth violence. This week-long non-violence initiative shows the positive role young people play in making their schools and communities safer. SAVE Promise Club is proud to be a founding partner of NYVPW.

How to Get Involved in National Youth Violence Prevention Week

Youth are at the center of creating safer, more connected schools and communities. During NYVPW, young people can take action by leading, organizing, and inspiring others to be part of the solution.

Explore resources and ideas to help youth use their voice, activate their community, and make an impact.

Become a Youth Leader

Youth are essential partners in NYVPW, leading the change toward safer schools and communities. SAVE Promise Club empowers youth with the tools and training they need to be successful leaders. They influence their peers in positive ways and help build more caring and connected school communities.

These resources can help youth build confidence, inspire others, and lead meaningful change:

Lead Change in Your Community

Take action! Every day, youth see issues affecting their lives that adults don’t see. They are often closest to the challenges – and the solutions. By recognizing the role of youth in our communities, we can support them in creating safer schools, homes, and communities.

These resources can help turn ideas into action:

This community activation activity invites youth to map safety from their own point of view: in their school, home, and neighborhood. Youth experience matters and this project creates powerful visuals for change!

Engage in Your Community During NYVPW

Communities across the country are finding creative ways to raise awareness and inspire action. Here are a few to get started:

  • Celebrate your favorite community Upstander.

  • Organize a youth-led Town Hall to develop solutions to youth violence.

  • Lead a service project where youth and adults come together and make a difference to create a connected community.

  • Learn and share the warning signs of violence, including Violence in Youth Internet Use.

  • Spread the word about the pervasive dangers of gun violence. Share these “14 Facts.”

  • Send the message to local leaders and legislators that youth violence is community-wide priority. Find out what you can do in your state.

Find more inspiration, celebrate Upstanders and Trusted Adults and more on social using #NYVPW.
