Sandy Hook Promise is founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting on December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Our intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation.
Our life-saving “Know the Signs” programs teach the warning signs of someone who may be in crisis, socially isolated, or at-risk of hurting themselves or others and how to get help.
By empowering youth, we can take meaningful actions to prevent gun violence and create safer schools. Millions of students in schools across America have been trained to “know the signs.”
