Getting Started as a Promise Leader

A Promise Leader is a committed supporter of Sandy Hook Promise’s mission and approach, who is willing to go beyond activity at the individual level, and bring Sandy Hook Promise programs and initiatives to a larger audience within their community.

Community is purposefully defined broadly and could include their child’s school, college or university, workplace, place of worship, civic organization, youth serving agency, nonprofit organization, or another group, club, organization or institution.

Each Promise Leader will look different depending on their area of interest, network, culture of the organization or institution, and the time they have available. Many of Sandy Hook Promise’s Promise Leader activities can be customized to meet the unique needs of your organization or institution and can be done in just a few hours a month.

To become an active Promise Leader, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Download our Promise Leader Toolkit.
  2. As you are implementing your Promise Leader activity, please feel free to reach out to us and other Promise Leaders on the private Promise Leader Facebook group to ask questions or get encouragement and ideas. You can also email us at: [email protected].
  3. Finally, once you have completed your Promise Leader activity, please complete the Promise Leader reporting form and let us know how your activity went so we can share back and properly recognize you. This is also a great way for other Promise Leaders to learn from you and share in your success!
