In November 2023, students used the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System to prevent a school shooting. After spotting violent threats on social media, including some that directly targeted students and teachers, Say Something-trained youth alerted the National Crisis Center (NCC). Within two minutes of receiving the first tip, NCC crisis counselors coordinated with the school and local authorities. After confirming the potential attackers had access to a semi-automatic firearm and a plan, authorities arrested the students who had made the threats to “shoot up the school.”
